Location & Nearby Attractions

We may be secluded and private, but we’re just a short drive away from some wonderful places to eat, visit, explore and more.

Llandovery, just a 4 minute drive away, has several good places to eat. From the Whitehall, where Anne will prepare some wonderful home cooked produce, to The Castle, where you’ll sample an award winning menu. The take away options are good too and the Fish and Chip shop (who do a mean Pizza) will even deliver.

Out and About

We are just meters from the Brecon Beacons National Park where you can walk, swim, climb and even get really adventurous at the activity centre.

The hut is set in a small woodland garden of around three acres and you are welcome to explore. Birds of prey, water voles, hedgehogs and even otters are regularly seen by guests. We also have bats that love to show off their flying skills at dusk, above the hot tub.

Bars & Lounges

Both Llandovery and Llandeilo have great places to drink, relax and socialise. You’ll find the locals are very friendly and several of the pubs in town have live music (seasonal).

Biking & Hiking

If you’re bringing your bikes, prepare for steep hills! There are some amazing off road trails as well as local cycle routes through the towns. Motorcyclists are also made welcome here, and the Llandovery Motorbike weekend is very popular.

Day Trips

Tenby is a lovely spot for a day at the beach and is easily reachable in around an hour. The Royal Botanical Gardens of Wales are around 30 minutes away and make for a great day out too.

Guest Reviews

We spent the most wonderful week at The Charcoal Hut. Everything about our stay was perfect. The star gazing, the hot tub, the great food in Llandovery. Thanks John and Dinah, you made our Welsh advenure truly magical!

The Charcoal Hut was a fabulous discovery after a year being stuck at home. We loved all the little details, and the fluffy towels and slippers were an added luxury we didn’t expect. The hot tub star gazing was glorious and we loved toasting the marshmallows on the fire.
